Privacy Policy
Disclosure is designed to keep your matter files under your control while using limited third-party processing for the features you choose to use.
Scope
This policy explains how Disclosure ("Disclosure," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Disclosure applications and website.
Information we handle
We handle account information provided through Sign in with Apple, which may include an Apple account identifier, name, email address, or Apple private relay address. We also handle the attorney name and practice name you provide, subscription status supplied by Apple, and limited operational or diagnostic events.
Matter content may include client and inventor names, matter titles, audio recordings, transcripts, disclosure drafts, readiness analysis, prior-art queries and results, and generated figures.
Where matter content is stored
The app stores each matter's files in the Disclosure folder in your iCloud Drive when iCloud is available. If iCloud is unavailable, the app uses its local application documents directory. Disclosure does not currently maintain a separate cloud database of your recordings, transcripts, or disclosure documents.
iCloud is a cloud service operated by Apple. Its encryption and access protections depend on your Apple account and iCloud configuration. You are responsible for securing your devices, Apple account, recovery methods, and any exported copies.
On-device processing
Microphone capture, supported speech transcription, speaker diarization, document assembly, and PDF and Word export run on your device. The app attempts supported on-device transcription before using its network fallback.
AI and other network processing
Some product features cannot operate solely on-device. When you use AI-assisted topic coverage, drafting, readiness review, figure planning, cross-referencing, or image generation, the app sends the information needed for that request—such as transcript text, matter details, draft sections, or a figure description—through the Disclosure backend to OpenAI.
If on-device transcription is unavailable or returns no speech, the app may send the recording through the Disclosure backend for transcription. If you use prior-art search, the app sends a keyword query derived from the matter title and disclosure text to SerpAPI. Account provisioning sends your email address and, when available, your name to the Disclosure backend. Apple processes Sign in with Apple, iCloud synchronization, and subscription transactions.
OpenAI states that data submitted through its API is not used to train its models by default unless the customer opts in. Third-party providers may retain limited data under their terms, security controls, and legal obligations.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate users, provision access, transcribe and structure disclosures, generate requested outputs, synchronize files through the user's iCloud account, provide prior-art search and subscription features, maintain security, diagnose failures, and support the service. We do not use matter content for targeted advertising.
How information is disclosed
We do not sell personal information. Information may be disclosed to the processors described above, when you direct the app to export or share a file, when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate protections.
Confidentiality and privilege
Disclosure is designed to reduce unnecessary copies of matter files, but using software or a third-party processor does not by itself create, preserve, or waive attorney-client privilege or work-product protection. Those questions depend on the facts, applicable law, client instructions, contracts, and your professional obligations. Before entering confidential or privileged information, you are responsible for determining whether the app, iCloud, Disclosure's backend, and the identified processors are appropriate for the matter and for obtaining any required client or participant consent.
Retention and deletion
Matter files remain in your local or iCloud storage until you delete them or manage them through Apple. Deleting a disclosure in the app deletes that matter from the app's storage location, subject to device backups, synchronization, and Apple's retention behavior. Account and operational records may be retained as needed to provide and secure the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Processor retention is governed by the applicable provider terms and account configuration.
Your choices
You can control microphone and speech permissions in system settings, manage iCloud and Advanced Data Protection through Apple, decide whether to use prior-art search or export and share a disclosure, and manage subscriptions through Apple. Privacy rights vary by location.
Children
Disclosure is intended for legal professionals and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the product or its data flows change. We will revise the effective date when we do. Privacy questions or requests may be sent to support@example.com.
